REHDA Melaka Friendly Bowling Tournament 2023

It’s time to bowl and roll! The REHDA Melaka Friendly Bowling Day is back after a hiatus of more than 5 years.

Held at the Melaka International Bowling Center (MIBC), the REHDA Melaka Friendly Bowling Tournament 2023 was organized on 12 August 2023, and saw an impressive number of 23 teams with 92 participants, including REHDA Melaka members and officers from state government departments. The event aimed to foster networking and closer rapport among the participants.    This was also opportunity for participants to showcase their bowling skills and champion striker moves, as everyone played hard and competitively to win attractive prizes.

The event registration began at 10 am, with all players receiving a Mamee goodies bag sponsored by Mamee-Double Decker (M) Bhd for participating in the games. The tournament kicked off with the first ball being bowled by the Organizing Chairperson, Mr Joe Cheong Joo Khim, at lane No.6, symbolizing the start of the event.

After the 15-minute trial session ended, the tournament officially began at 10.45 am, with everyone aiming for the pins as they bowled.  Each team came with their own team uniform, turning the bowling hall into a lively and buzzing atmosphere.

The excitement remained high, and by 12.30 pm, most teams had completed their games. Players and guests were served a light buffet lunch at the ground floor function hall while awaiting the results.

By 1 pm, the games had concluded, and the results were later produced and obtained by the organizing committee.

Subsequently, the prize-giving ceremony commenced with opening remarks from the REHDA Melaka Honorary Secretary, Datuk Ngoh Chun How. The results were announced, starting with the 2nd runner-up position, secured by the Pejabat Tanah & Galian Melaka Team with 1785 points, followed by the 1st runner-up, the Majlis Perbandaran Jasin Team, with 1942 points. The group championship title was claimed by the Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah Team with 2027 points.

For the individual titles, the best male player award went to Encik Abdul Halim Bin Ahmad Dalili with 587 points, while Pn Yaliza Binti Yaacob received the best female player award with 462 points. Both of them were from the Majlis Perbandaran Jasin.

In addition to acknowledging the winning teams and individuals, the organizing committee also presented 2 special prizes as a recognition of the new bowlers who committed to completing the 3 games within the time limit. The titles of “Longkang King” and “Longkang Queen” were awarded to Encik Mohamad Shahrul Azrin Bin Adnan and Ms. Chong Shu Khye of the Teladan Setia Team, respectively.

The event concluded with a group photo at the stage of MIBC’s function hall, capturing cheerful faces despite their weariness from enthusiastically throwing bowls.

REHDA Melaka extends heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all players for joining the games and to Mamee-Double Decker (M) Bhd for sponsoring over 100 packs of Mamee goodies bags.
